About Taryn

Taryn Marcelino is a PhD from UCLA’s Gender Studies department. Her previous research examined transnational art that complicated the role of the hijab in French public space. Her current research focuses on the role of memory and memorialization, and the lingering traces of the transatlantic slave trade in contemporary France, particularly in Nantes. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology- International Studies with a minor in French Literature from the University of California, San Diego.
